The Meaning
"the unknown Muscle"
I wish I had a dollar for every time someone asked me what the meaning is behind "The Unknown Muscle".
A client says, “That spot where your working has been sore, what muscle is that?” This is a statement I have listened to for many years repeatedly. Muscles function to produce movement in and for the body. The feel of these muscles change, thrive, grow, and sometimes shrink. They are battered, stretched and torn with the years. They become individuated just like the trees that have weathered storms, been broken, and age. They become unique just like each client that spends time on my massage table. Trees, anatomy, and movement of the body have been just a few passions of mine thus giving life to my logo. The name of my business needed to encompass not only massage but also movement and self discovery!
The many unique symbols for the “Tree of Life” which crosses all ancient cultures embody what many strive to achieve in a life time. Trees are the only thing that continue to grow for its’ entire life. A tree has deep connections with the earth, yet its branches reach up to the heavens. The human need to search, grow and be is a process that delves into the unknown.
Searching the unknown is a way of life unfolding both the spirit and physical realms. Many of us have much more strength than we know and our bodies have an amazing way to self healing if we choose to support it. The meaning of the 'Tree of Life' is very powerful and it is often seen as the “Key to Consciousness” or being “Rooted into the earth - reaching for the stars”.
The Unknown Muscle Massage & Wellness is a cooperative I have dreamed of creating for many years. We are a place for all walks of life. We strive to support not only smoothing out sore muscles by offering a variety of bodywork therapies, but also be a source for movement, meditation, and self discovery.
